In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of long-range planning work. Most of your work will be project-based and conducted under general supervision by the Manager, except for routine tasks that are clearly defined by established precedents. This includes developing, implementing, advising on, and monitoring planning policies, bylaws, procedures, and programs that support the community's long-term vision. Key responsibilities involve implementing and maintaining the Official Community Plan (OCP), advancing the Housing Needs Action Plan, leading neighborhood and area plans, and managing various other planning strategies and studies. You will initiate, be part of and lead public consultations, conduct research, prepare reports, and formulate responses to complex land-use and planning issues. Acting as project manager, you will provide technical advice, collaborate with internal teams, work with a variety of professionals, partners, the public and decision makers to support advancing the community's future.
About Your Background:
To qualify for this role, you must hold a degree in urban, land use, environmental, or regional planning, or a related discipline recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners. You should have at least five years of relevant professional experience and be a member of the Canadian Institute of Planners. A strong knowledge of core community planning principles and practices is essential, along with a solid understanding of long-term planning practice and the housing development process, as well as housing-related planning and policy. A valid full privilege Class 5 BC Drivers' License (or out of province equivalent) is required.
