The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting to fill a full-time term position for a Planner. Under the supervision of the Planning Manager and mentorship of Senior Planners, provides advice to Council, Administration, and the public on the orderly planning and growth of The City of Red Deer and applies accepted planning principles to the preparation and amendment of statutory plans, non-statutory plans, land use bylaws, and subdivision plans consistent with the intent of the Municipal Government Act.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Candidate member with the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) or other Provincial, Territorial Institutes and Association (PTIA)
- Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field of study (extensive years of experience may be considered equivalent)
- Minimum of one year directly related planning experience
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of land use planning, Inter municipal planning and regional planning including applicable land use and development regulations and requirements
- Ability to express ideas effectively, orally and in writing and good organizational, report writing and presentation skills
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with community groups and establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multi-disciplinary team environment
- Demonstrated ability to conduct qualitative, quantitative, and policy research using a variety of research methods
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Vehicle for occasional business use

Remuneration:
$45.42 to $48.09 per hour.
Hours of Work:
75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday; some evening and weekend work may be required when needed.
